"Wow, we're all messed up. Leave it to our year that is that way." Sirius said to himself, though he was sure the others near him, either heard him or thought the same exact thing. Granted he thought that sentence with a few different words that wouldn't be appropriate for class.
He was kind of surprised when Voldemort came out of the closet and the way Snape acted to an illusion. It was like the git had lost all sense of self control even going so far as to handing over his wand. This was messed up, and he now knew that he had been right the other day in his assumptions that Snape ran in the same circle as Bellatrix, the same one that his mother had told him to join many months ago. Sirius wasn't fool enough to follow her wishes, and he was glad that he hadn't. Just look at how Snape acted. He needed to think about things, and maybe not bully the greasy git as much, maybe it might help.
When Tonks went he wasn't sure what to think, especially if she got together with Remus. How would she handle it when she found out about Remus being a werewolf. He would just have to wait and see what happened with them, but when Remus went up and completely froze, and then ran out of the room Sirius was about ready to get up and go after his friend, but the professor told everyone to stay here or risk detention, and with his luck it'd be with the caretaker. So he sat back down, and promptly went back to leaning back in his chair with his feet propped up on his desk.

Marlene was kind of frightened the moment the boggart came out of the wardrobe as fully transformed werewolf. But it was pushed aside the moment it got changed. And then things went down him from there, well it went downhill the moment Voldemort came out of there for Snape. And it all culminated in them having to stay in the room until the professor came back, hopefully with Remus. To wait out the time, she conjured a ball with her wand, and before doing anything with it she turned in her seat, and then used her wand to bounce it off of the side of Sirius' head, well except for the occasional time she would lightly hit him in the face. Marlene was kind of surprised that he hadn't fallen out of his chair yet. "Do you want to play fetch Sirius?" She asked with a smirk, before she added. "Come on I know you want too." Marlene didn't care what the others thought of her actions as Sirius ignored her for now. Kind of rude of him wasn't it?

Severus was slowly recovering from his encounter with the stupid Boggart. He was kicking himself internally for acting so stupid. It was like the Boggart had some sort of ability to get into someone's mind and torture them even though they knew it was just an illusion. Somehow, he couldn't resist – possibly because it was just the visual and the sound of his voice. It was enough to send him into a frenzy. For one normally so controlled, he was cursing himself internally for acting like such a fool. He just couldn't deny anything from that man, and it was honestly extremely scary. He was so frightened, he didn't feel there was any other way.
When Rose placed a hand on his cheek, he swallowed, turning his head towards her mechanically and his eyes staring blankly at her. He leaned towards her, his head burying itself in her shoulder. He knew that she had just gone through hell and back – her brother just went through hell and dashed from the room. Yet here she was trying to comfort him. He should be the one comforting her. He felt so useless. So pathetic. That was exactly what that Boggart did to him as well. He existed. That was his greatest failure. Existing.
He didn't sob, just resting his head on her shoulder, burying it as best as he could. His body otherwise was limp, arms just hanging at his side. He just needed this – this feeling of someone caring. It was going to be alright, she was here and she cared.

Tonks was, for lack of a better word, confused. She stared at Rose's back, which was tense. She could tell the girl wanted to go after her brother. Why didn't she? What--
Then it slammed into her like a book. Stupid Tonks, she was leaving you an opening! Well, she might not know that she was, but she was. She was probably the last person Remus' wanted to see right now, but, Tonks being slightly smart, found that it would be probably the best way of doing things.
Tonks suddenly stood, the chair making an awful noise which caused the whole class to look at her. Tonks gathered her items, looking to Rose for affirmation, and Rose nodded, once, before turning her attention away from her. Tonks then dashed out of the room.
It didn't take long to find them, as they hadn't gone very far at all. She knew she was going to get detention, but worry pushed her past that.
"He's right, you know."

Post by Remus J. Lupin on Oct 9, 2018 2:22:39 GMT
Remus was shaking, despite the comfort of the arm around his shoulders. Everyone had fears of other people or something like that – they didn't understand that he was afraid of himself. Afraid that he would kill someone he loved. Afraid that the curse would take everything he had built up and tear it down. It was something he could control. He could just not be friends with anyone. He could be miserable for the rest of his life. But what would that get him? He'd waste his life away. He'd do nothing. He'd have no purpose. He wanted to be loved so badly.
He quickly rubbed his nose, sniffing as he did, as the sobbing had made his nose run slightly. "I – I know that." His voice was hoarse and rough. "I'm – you don't understand. I – I'm afraid of me. O-Of me hurting the people I care about – th-that – I just –" His breathing became heavy again, and the Professor pulled him into a hug. It was soothing to be hugged, even if it was by some older professor he barely even knew.
"I don't want to hurt anyone. I don't want to be left alone because of something I do but – but th-there's no way to get the best of both worlds. I-I'm a monster."

Post by David T. McKay on Oct 9, 2018 2:40:08 GMT
McKay looked up as Nymphadora Tonks joined them. He gave her a stern look, but he understood – she cared about the kid, and wanted to make sure he was alright. Regardless, he was a man of his word and he was pretty sure she knew that too. He still respected her for coming out despite his warning. He hugged the boy tightly, trying to provide some sort of comfort to him. What had made this boy so broken? To the point he was calling himself a monster?
It took a moment, before his mind began to explore the possibilities – there were a few little details in his boggart that could possibly lead to a conclusion – but none of them, other than one, would make him a monster. And that one, he'd still not be a monster, he'd just have one inside of him. He stowed away the notes for later. He'd need to talk to Dumbledore about the boy. And probably the rest of this class because boy, they were all screwed up in one way or another. But it took a lot to make a Gryffindor run away. They were known for their thick-headed bravery, but this boy seemed to have a different type of bravery to him. The bravery to persist despite everything. Then again, half those students were similar.
"You are not a monster, Remus Lupin. I've known my fair share of monsters. T – You-Know-Who? He's a monster. Grindlewald? Monster. Remus? A boy. A young boy who just wants to be accepted by his peers and loved. A young boy, who is thinking about having children, which I would hope is far in your future. A young boy who wants a family to love him, because from what I saw of your sister's Boggart, your father could use a lot of work in that area."
McKay sighed, releasing the hug. Remus was looking at him the tears starting to dry up a bit at least. "I'll leave you and Ny –" Wait, she was the one who hated her first name right? McGonagall at least warned him about that. Not the fact that bringing in a Boggart would completely and totally traumatize both the students who had the certain boggart, but also the onlookers. Or the fact that they were a bunch of screwed up kids. None of that. Just 'Miss Nymphadora Tonks will get angry if you call her by her first name, David'.
"– Miss Tonks. Feel free to rejoin the class when, or if you feel up to it, alright, Remus?" McKay stood up, giving Tonks a look and summoning a note for her detention and handing it to her. "I'll see you Tuesday after class." He gave her a nod and reentered the class and cleared his throat.
"So, that was a very… uh, interesting experience. Why don't we all take a few moments to… relax and… uh, we'll talk a bit more about Boggarts after that, yeah?"

The difference, Rose surmised, was that while yes, her father was indeed scary. Her worries projected to the entire room, her father was not some wanna-be overlord. She was still trying to wrap her head around it, why would he want to serve him? What could Voldemort and his Death Eaters offer him other than a life of pain and misery?
She swallowed heavily when he turned to her, eyes empty and pressed his face into her shoulder. She had gone through hell indeed, but her fear was so much different. So much smaller. So... insignificant to the monster he just faced.
"I wish.." she began, softly, whispering into his ear. She wrapped her arms around him, hand sweeping through his hair gently, as to not pull on any snags. However, she changed her thought from her original one, not caring if Sirius or Marlene overheard her. "He's wrong, you know. I know it was only a boggart, but, it was wrong. Your existence isn't a failure. I would be very sad if you didn't exist, Severus."
She took a deep breath. "I'm here, Sev. I'm here as long as you need me. Nothing, nor no-one, will take me away."
She meant it. Nothing, no-one. No Death Eater, not even Voldemort; his choice to join them--while she didn't approve, while she was a halfbreed, a werewolf, none of it mattered. She knew she was sacrificing her self, her brother would probably tell her later, chew her out later on it for making such a promise, but the thing was...
The thing, it hit her like a truck. She realized it had only been a week. It had only been a week and she'd fallen so far. But her tongue froze in her mouth, unable to put it into words, not yet, too soon.
Instead, she held him tighter, hoping to bring him comfort and, even though she knew Sirius would probably make a big deal out of it, she pressed a kiss to his ear.
The Door opened and Professor McKay reentered but she made no move to move or remove Severus from her person. She'd let him move when he was ready.

Sirius was bored well except getting hit in the face with ball. "No I don't want to play fetch. I'm not some dog that you can coerce into playing fetch." Ok that wasn't true at all, and he did it when he was Padfoot, just to amuse his friends. But in a public place such as this there was no way he was going to transform, that would be a very bad thing. "Plus I think the side of my head is doing a good enough jo..." At that moment he was hit in the face with the ball in question. Did she really have to do that? Not that he cared as long as the ball remained soft. "...b." He finished his sentence dryly.
By the time the professor had left they had been talking amongst themselves, each person worried over one thing or another. But they weren't sitting there for to long, as the professor came back and told them to take a moment to calm themselves and relax before they talked more about boggarts. Well that wasn't going to help much. What with them having just faced the creature, dealing embarrassment, and maybe a little psychological trauma to others. Seriously (no pun intended) Where did he find that blasted thing?

Marlene had given Sirius a pout when he had said he didn't want to play fetch, but she kept bouncing the ball off of his head and face, until they had started talking while the professor was gone. When he came however, instead of sitting there by Rose who was now attending to Severus, Marlene was sitting next to Sirius, having commandeered the seat while they had been talking.. But when the professor came back and had said that they would take a moment to collect themselves, and then they would talk about the creature they had faced. The thing that had made her see her worst fear.
She wasn't having any of that, and she said clearly for everyone to hear. "Maybe we should have talked about them first. So we had at least some foreknowledge of what we would be facing. Professor" It wasn't like her to normally talk out, or talk back to a teacher, but not talking about the creature beforehand, irked Marlene. Her day started off bad so what if she got detention for talking back or out of turn. She didn't care. Not today.

The world was blackened for him – mostly because his eyes were closed – but also because that had just happened in front of everyone. They saw him bow to the Dark Lord, obey his every command, even if it meant that he would die to a boggart, just because it was in his image and he couldn't disrespect anything that looked like him. Luckily, he had come to his senses and realized he had a lot to live for – Rose, Lily, those two primarily. That, and the Dark Lord would probably not take too kindly to anything taking on his image.
Severus leaned up, after hearing her words, and slapped his face as hard as he could. There was a loud 'whack!' that rang through the room. A red spot appeared on his face, looking like a bit of it might bruise later. He took in a deep breath and stared for a moment right at Rose – though really, it was more like he was staring in her general direction as his brain was not focusing on the young woman.
"I know." Two words. Two words that she had told him before – that day in the potions classroom where they had confessed that they actually did like each other. He looked right at her, his expression back to normal, the corners of his lips slightly turned up. He had shoved all those feelings of self-doubt, self-loathing back into the deepest corners of his mind. "Now that everyone knows for sure where my loyalties lie, however, I doubt everything will be the same." Then again, his boggart was that same man he bowed to.

When McKay hands her the slip for the dentation she gives him a two-fingered salute. "Not like it's my last one for the year. Welcome to the 'Tonks Gets Detention' Club, Professor."
She approached Remus slowly, kneeling down next to him. "Can I join you?"
she held her tongue for a few moments. Something in her wanted to continue arguing McKay's point, that he wasn't a monster, but somehow that seemed .... tactless.

Remus was sitting there, face in his arms, his throat tight. She was right there. After what they all just saw, how could she be here? He was afraid of so many things but that was one of the worst: him attacking someone he loved. That and having a kid. Not that he didn’t want to be a dad but there were a lot of reasons why he couldn’t be a dad. Taking in a deep breath he finally answered her question. ”Y-Yeah, sure...”
He didn’t know what was wrong with him. Why did he say sure? Was it because he desperately wanted her to like him despite her fear of monsters like him? He wanted to kiss her again, spend every second with her. But she was afraid of him. Even if she didn’t know it. And that killed him. ”We shouldn’t be friends or date. Or anything like that. It just wouldn’t work in the end. I’m sorry.”. McKay was right he could change his actions. He could make it so she didn’t have to feel betrayed when she found out.

McKay looked towards Marlene and he sighed, running a hand down his face. He didn't quite need the criticism. How was he supposed to know these kids were so screwed up? He did everything he was supposed to – he was ready to stop it if it went too far (which to him, as someone who faced a lot of bad things, it never got to, though it almost got there with Severus and handing over his wand).
Even still, how was he supposed to teach them how to defend against something new – something that they might not have learned everything about – how to fight spontaneously like it was needed out in the real world, without terrifying them when it was in general a terrifying thing? That didn't make much sense, but it made sense to him at least. When they were out there, they needed to know how to face their fears, and this was important for that. He just didn't expect it would be so bad.
"I did warn you that Boggarts take the form of your worst fear." He watched Marlene for a moment. "Not only that, do you expect when you're out there and fighting against the Dark Arts, you'll be given thirty minutes to prepare yourself? Boggarts are a third-year thing, though according to your professors you never went over them due to your past professors in this class not quite going over everything you need. Defense Against the Dark Arts isn't just about knowing how to defend yourself – its also about actually being able to defend yourself when you're faced with something you might not be an expert on. After all, your schooling can't cover everything, and given how this whole… curse on the position goes, I can't be sure your next professors will be any good either."
He bit his lower lip and looked at the rest of the class. Why did he feel the need to defend himself? Was it so people would respect him? No. That wasn't it. It was a way he could stop beating himself up internally about the whole thing. Sure, what he was saying was true, but at the same time he knew he should've been more careful. "Not only that, I'm an auror, not a teacher. I wasn't trained for this, to expect a bunch of fifteen-year-olds to have such terrifying fears. But it only goes to prove my point – you need to be able to stand up and face your fears, no matter how terrible they are, and what better place to learn it than somewhere where you are safe?"

She panicked slightly when he pulled away and suddenly slapped himself in the face. He wasn't quite looking at her though, so even though she had the urge to make a cheeky remark on his methods of bringing him back to the present, she held back. There was a time and a place for everything. Always.
"What do you mean you doubt 'everything will be the same'?" there was a touch of heat in the question. "I told you, nothing will take me."
She assumed, that now that this boggart had revealed... that. People would be coming in droves to tell her to cut ties with him. "I think you forget that besides you, my brother and his friends, no one gives two shakes about my existance."
Talking about things to fear. There was--well, there's only one now, at least in the classroom. But McKay had a point. People needed to face their fears and that put a small smile on her face, knowing that Tonks was with her brother. She might not know it yet, but that'll be good for him.
She snickered at Marlene, "wouldn't that be a Ravenclaw answer? To research before then dive in head first? I thought Gryffindors were all about action now, questions later?"
She shook her head. "He's right, you know." She said, knowing everyone could hear her. "He's being kind. Outside--they'll be no prep time at all. It'll just be you, your courage and hopefully, your wand."

Sirius smirked when Marlene had questioned the professor. And then there was the revelation that the professor was an auror. Seriously an auror? That seemed terrified of teaching a bunch of kids? Really what was wrong with the man? "She was being sarcastic. Of course she knows that you face the unknown in the real world." He said in a bored tone. "You have no idea what she nor her family have gone through." He was defending her, and he wasn't afraid to do so. nor was he intimidated by the whole auror bit.
"And maybe you should have talked with the other professors about us before you brought a boggart in. You may not have expected us to have, as you put it, "terrifying fears" Here Sirius used his hands for mock quotations "but given the current state of the world you should have." He was well into it now, and there was no stopping it just yet, they still had class time after all. "Take me for example, you saw my boggart. Hell everyone did. That is the result of the first time I broke a tiny rule at home, and was punished with the dark arts, and even some tame spells. And it wasn't the last time either. So spare me professor!" Sirius growled out. He was likely to get detention for this, but he was great at arguing. You had to be to survive in the House of Black.
