Change didn't have to be scary, it was all about how one looked at it. It also didn't hurt to have others by your side, when things got tough. Especially when you needed someone in your corner, that you didn't think would have been there at all. Relying on others was great, but it didn't always happen the way you would think it would. She couldn't rely on her parents or her sister. Not when magical forces were in play. Which clearly they were more and more every day. "I do appreciate it." She replied with a smile.
She was in amazement when he mentioned a reversal for the animagus spell. She didn't think there was one. She knew this was a risk, whether she became one or not. But the more knowledge she had, the better she would feel. Her curiosity was certainly piqued. Yet there was a sense of trust between the two of them and it was only growing. Trust mattered more than most would think of. "Harmless, well no I suppose you have a point. Anyone with magic could be considered dangerous. It's why the muggles are usually a bit more--apprehensive of that sort of thing. They fear things in which they don't understand. But anyone can be that way, with or without magic. Knowledge is power, as they say. Though as far as Peter is concerned, if he wants to try something, he'll have something far more than he knows in his way. You may not know this about me, Sirius, but if you anger me, it doesn't usually end well. So, despite how much of a creep he may be, I say bring it on. I can tolerate just about anyone, and their lack of social etiquette." She'd never had it in her to hex anyone but that didn't mean that she couldn't. As she had her own special arsenal of it. Spells she'd created herself and some she'd found in the corners of the library.
But then the point was back to something she had more interest in. The map. The map that the boys had created all on their own. She waited until the man spoke in Gaelic to let the map entirely open. She could read the words on the map. "Okay, so I have a stupid question then. It says, "Messers Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs." I can kind of see which one of you boys is which just by the names. Correct me if I'm wrong, and by no means am I judging anyone. Remus, would be Moony. He's a little peaky, and is always disappearing around the full moon. Wormtail is obviously Peter, as he's cowardly, and quiet like a mouse would be, or in this case rat. That just leaves Padfoot and Prongs, which if I have to guess Padfoot is you. Because of what you said, of what you'd do with your friends. It's a trait that a dog would have. And that leaves Potter being Prongs. Which, could mean any number of things, though what prongs reminds me of is a stag--a deer." Which kind of made her curious as it were. Especially considering the fact her patronus was a doe. ‘Cosantóir na ndaoine neamhchiontach’ Means protector of the innocent in Gaelic.” Those words she would have to remember for this map, which wouldn't be all that difficult.
She could hear what he had said, as he had leaned in, whispering to her, so that only she could hear in case others were down below. It was the best way to protect the secrets of the map, and to keep someone other than her, the boys, or Marlene from figuring out just what was on it. She watched as he spoke out saying her name, it was quite enlightening. It was slightly reassuring knowing that Marlene was in the Gryffindor Tower. "Okay, so it's highlighted in green, because it's the name used and that I'm marked safe? What about yours? Since you're standing next to me and all. It's remarkable Sirius. I mean it's one thing to create a map that shows the entire school, and everyone inside it. But it's even more remarkable that you've also got it to show if someone's in danger and not just where they are. This is absolutely brilliant. Does--do the others know about this? I mean this feature, is it on the original you boys have? And is that--the map how your buddy, Potter, always seemed to know where I was? It's--this is brilliant. But I can see why there is the importance of knowing when someone particularly younger is in danger. I also like the concept of being able to tell when someone you're close to is in danger. Like Marlene. There's something about it--something I've learned in my time here at Hogwarts, it's that magic may work in mysterious ways but it always works. This map has that feature on it, because it needed to. This castle, this place is filled with untold magic. Magic that would take more than the seven years we have in order to ever fully comprehend it. I promise to be careful with it. And to share with Marlene obviously. Though I have a slight feeling she'll be around you more than years past." She was confident about that last statement.
She could tell her friend liked Sirius. And she could see why. "I'd love to learn more about the runes sometime. Yes, I remember you telling me about that. I'd like to know as much as I can. As my mum would say, knowledge is power. So the more I know the better equipped I'll be to handle whatever comes my way." She wondered what the future might hold. Part of her was curious as to where Potter was at the moment, her curiosity was piqued but wasn't about to ask. It only seemed fair to wonder given she knew that Potter had used the map to find her on more than one occasion and she'd rather know when to expect him to pop out of the wood work given he liked to do that. She wondered what he'd say about her and Sirius having this conversation, and even more so about what Sirius had shared regarding the map.
